Large Resin Model: Assembly, Display and Transport
Open full image
Before ordering a large resin model, confirm three things: its dimensions in the final pose, how it reaches its display position, and how its largest section travels. A nominal height or a scale label cannot answer all three. Agree the physical arrangement with the maker before approving the build.
Scope. This is a buyer checklist, not assembly instructions or proof that a particular model can withstand transport.
Disclosure: Printara offers the Titans models linked below. Confirm the details of your selected model or commission separately.
Confirm the final pose
Ask for maximum height, width and depth in millimetres, including the base, raised weapons, wings and any projecting details. Identify the exact pose and file version behind those measurements. A different arm angle can change the space required even when the body height stays the same.
Request a front and side view with the outer dimensions marked. Record the base footprint separately from the widest part above it. If a dimension is only an estimate, leave it marked as an estimate until the maker confirms it.
Measure display space and access
Measure the usable space inside the cabinet, not its outside dimensions. Check door frames, hinges, shelf brackets and lights. Consider the route into the cabinet as well as the final resting place: a model may fit inside but not pass through its opening in one piece.
Tell the maker where you need room for your hands during placement and later removal. Ask for the finished weight and check the furniture manufacturer's limits. Do not infer shelf suitability from a photograph or assume one clearance works for every model.
Identify the largest subassembly
A subassembly is a group of parts that stays together. Ask which sections can be separated after finishing and measure the largest section in its intended packing orientation. Distinguish joints intended for permanent assembly from joints designed for repeated removal.
Splits and connectors are design choices. PrusaSlicer's cut-tool documentation describes plugs, dowels and snap connectors; it does not certify strength in your resin model. Do not assume magnets are included, choose their size from overall height alone, or drill and modify a supplied joint without the maker's guidance.
Check what the kit includes
Confirm whether you are buying files, a physical unassembled kit or a finished piece. Request a part list and assembly sheet for the exact version. Ask which parts arrive attached, which seams remain visible, what finishing remains, and whether the base and any connectors are included.
The Titans page describes its printed kits as cleaned and cured, unassembled and unpainted, with an assembly sheet and without glue or tools. Confirm the selected order's scope. Ask about the dry-fit sequence and stop if a joint does not match the instructions; forcing it is not a substitute for clarification.
Plan packing and transport
Separate carrying a model to an event from sending it through a parcel network. Ask the maker for packing and handling instructions for your actual model, including which sections to remove and where support may safely contact the piece. A carrying case is not automatically a shipping solution.
Compare the largest packed section with the case's usable internal dimensions and opening. Include the intended protective packing in that comparison. Ask whether the original packing can be reused and what to inspect after unpacking. A staged photograph or a fitted case does not demonstrate resistance to drops or vibration.
Send one clear brief
Copy this list into your enquiry. Mark unknowns as questions instead of filling them with guesses.
Model and file version: Final pose and base: Maximum height / width / depth in mm: Display interior and opening: Access restrictions and shelf limit: Largest removable section: Kit or finished piece: Assembly work you can undertake: Personal transport or shipment: Destination and packing questions:
Keep the maker's confirmed dimensions, part map and packing instructions together. Recheck them when the pose, base, finish or delivery arrangement changes.
Discuss the model before the build
Use your completed brief to ask which dimensions, assembly choices and delivery arrangements can be confirmed for your project.
